The National Property Management Association (NPMA) is an association of personal property and fixed-asset professionals. The NPMA serves as a central resource for education, growth, and evolution for the profession. Since 2014, Meeting Expectations has served as NPMA’s association management company.
Due to the pandemic, NPMA was forced to cancel its planned in-person education classes. With members still in need of professional development and open to online learning, our team was tasked to quickly identify a solution that would provide members with the best virtual experience, as well as the interactive tools that would allow the NPMA team to keep engagement levels high.
We identified a platform that would deliver all of the technology features needed for these online learning experiences. Our certification specialist tested the system and created a customized manual to guide instructors through the system and ensure that they had the necessary equipment to successfully present. We also created a guide for NPMA student members that outlined what to expect and how to use the technology – including workarounds to any known technical issues that might arise.
Each morning, our team ensured that sessions got off to a good start and remained available throughout the day to address any issues.
Membership response was overwhelmingly positive: they appreciated the opportunity to continue to work towards their Property Certifications even while they are not able to gather in person.
Due to the success of these initial online courses, the NPMA board of directors approved adding online courses to the preliminary course schedule for 2021.
By forcing us to reimagine how to offer continuing education, the pandemic gave NPMA an opportunity to grow membership offerings and benefits. This added value has also helped to keep finances stable so that NPMA can continue its current levels of service and benefits.
