The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) recently awarded the Colorado SHRM State Council (COSHRM), managed by Meeting Expectations, its prestigious EXCEL Platinum Award for its accomplishments in 2016.
The award aligns individual chapters and state councils’ activities with SHRM’s aspirations for the HR profession. The award recognizes accomplishments and strategic activities and initiatives that enhance the human resources profession.
“Advancing the human resources profession is a daily mission at SHRM and COSHRM’s outstanding work in 2016 contributed significantly to that goal,” said Henry G. (Hank) Jackson, president and CEO of SHRM. “Recipients of this prestigious award are those who show a strong commitment to advancing the HR profession through service to the community, local networking, and professional development activities.”
The award recognizes COSHRM for four key strategic initiatives of 2016. COSHRM established relationships with state government representatives resulting in HR advocates with a better understanding and increased interest in the legislative process. The COSHRM Membership Collaboration Center was developed to make tools available for individual chapter use, thereby increasing collaboration and efficiency in growing membership in local chapters across the state. To grow the number of SHRM Certified professionals statewide, COSHRM increased awareness of learning opportunities and study groups throughout the state. The council also created a resource tool for HR professionals designed to mitigate a shortage of job candidates for service jobs and lower-paying positions.
Meeting Expectations is a long-term partner of COSHRM, providing association management services, professional staffing and operational support. “It is exciting to see our partnership with COSHRM result in this prestigious recognition,” said Rob Johnson, director of client services for Meeting Expectations and executive director, Colorado SHRM. “COSHRM is led by incredibly smart and passionate volunteers. We are honored to serve as their professional support as they advance their profession and make a true impact across the state and beyond.”
