Meeting Expectations has earned the 2016 International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) Art of the Show award for the best Attendee/Booth Interaction in the under 75,000 square-foot exhibition category. The innovative “THEgame of Drones” activity at the Oracle Applications User Group Conference (OAUG), COLLABORATE 16, and the OAUG Membership Booth were the subject of the award nomination. The conference took place at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
THEgame of Drones is a one-of-a-kind tradeshow engagement journey designed and sold by Meeting Expectations. Conference participants “earned their wings” by visiting different key sponsor booths. After earning their wings, THEgame of Drones participants trained for actual drone races at the OAUG Membership booth; while they engaged in interactive flight training, the OAUG staff engaged with them to share the benefits of association membership. THEgame of Drones raised additional sponsorship revenue, met the OAUG’s goal of over 800 scanned booth visits and increased uptake of introductory memberships by 83% over the previous year’s conference. Meeting Expectations designed the program and sold the sponsorships, developed the custom drone experiences and collaborated with experienced drone pilots to facilitate training and racing on site, navigated indoor flight restrictions and safety standards, marketed the program to attendees, designed race course, the OAUG membership booth and all accompanying signage and promotions. The company has since adapted the experience to other audiences and events.
“We’re extremely excited about our latest IAEE Art of the Show award because we prioritize incorporating new technologies of all kinds into event experiences and because this particular initiative represents the work of so many of our Meeting Expectations team members,” said Christine Hilgert, CMP, senior vice president of meetings. “We brought together innovative minds from across the company to create a dynamic attendee engagement program for our client and THEgame of Drones was born. We’re looking forward to continuing to push the boundaries of drone events and seeing this concept live on in new ways.”
The winning Art of the Show entries will be displayed at Expo! Expo! IAEE’s Annual Meeting and Exhibition held December 6-8 in Anaheim, California. THEgame of Drones entry can be viewed on IAEE’s website: http://www.iaee.com/winners-gallery-attendee-boothinteraction-2016/.
